The Shaman Bookshop

Your hub for books in Chiang Mai

We sell and trade books

We are often praised for our collections of rare books, which are hand-picked by the guy, who loves to read and has worked in the book shop business for more than twenty years. Our bookshop is around Tha Pae Gate, Chiang Mai, Thailand.

There are over 37,000 books in our shop, if you buy a book and return it back (in good condition) we will give you 50% of the original price. You can trade your books with us. (If it’s not from our shop we will consider the condition and popularity of the book)

We show recommended collections in this Facebook page which is only some portion of the books we have, so if you are interested in any specific category or are looking for anything in particular, please contact us. We will get back to as soon as we can. Or look at our database.

maybe the cats are not happy about strangers taking away the books; if so the only solution would be to close down the bookstore or... to build a PYRAMID for them(one day I'll write the story of the only ancient pyramid in Roma -built 12 C.E- with cats, beautiful art, Shelley, Keats, Goethe, Corso and Gramsci all together)

Yuval Noah Harari as the Pet Ideologist of the Liberal Elites Why did Obama, Zuckerberg, and Gates like Harari? Maybe it's the political benefit they hoped to extract from his view that there is no alternative to the neoliberal package.Readers familiar with Harari’s ideas won’t find much that is new in “Lessons,” as large portions of the book recycle his earlier works. However, the focus on the present makes it possible – more than in his previous books – to uncover Harari’s guiding political logic, which is chiefly to restore the rule of the “liberal elites.”

American anthropologist Marvin Harris was highly influential in the development of cultural materialism. In his work, he combined Karl Marx's emphasis on the forces of production with Malthus's insights on the impact of demographic factors on other parts of the sociocultural system. Labeling demographic and production factors as infrastructure, Harris posited these factors as key in determining a society's social structure and culture.
